How to transform your traditional learning content into digital content?
Honestly, if you have never done this before, the task may seem daunting. You have probably spent years collecting Powerpoint presentations, handouts, textbooks, and other resources to use in your classroom. Now you are being asked to put all of that content online for your learners to access. You don’t know where to start or what will work best.
Don’t worry, you are not alone. Many educators are in the same boat as you are. The good news is that there are some tried and true methods for taking your traditional content and making it digital. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
1. Convert Your PowerPoint Presentations to Videos or Web Format
If you have a lot of PowerPoint presentations, one of the best ways to convert them to digital content is to turn them into videos. You can use a free tool like Camtasia to record your PowerPoint slides and add audio. This is a great way to create short lectures or tutorials that your learners can watch at their own pace.
Another way to convert your PowerPoint presentations to digital content is to save them as web pages. You can use iSpring’s PowerPoint to HTML5 converter to do this. This is a great way to make your content more interactive and engaging for your learners. Since the content is HTML5, it will work on any device, including smartphones and tablets.
2. Create Online Quizzes and Assessments
Another great way to digitize your content is to create online quizzes and assessments. You can use a tool like Google Forms to create quizzes that your learners can take online. This is a great way to check for understanding or give learners practice with material that they will be tested on.
3. Create a Podcast
If you have audio content, such as lectures or interviews, you can easily create a podcast. You can use a free tool like Audacity to record and edit your audio. Once you have your podcast created, you can upload it to iTunes or any other podcasting platform. You can upskill yourself on how to create a podcast by checking out Youtube tutorials.
4. Create an eBook
If you have a lot of text-based content, such as handouts or articles, you can easily create an eBook. You can use a free tool like Adobe InDesign to design your book. Once you have your book created, you can export it to PDF and make it available for your learners to download.
If you want to get more creative, you can start creating a video or audio lesson. You can use a tool like Adobe Premiere Pro to edit videos and create engaging lessons for your learners. The sky’s the limit when it comes to digitizing your content. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things. Your learners will appreciate the effort that you put into making your content more engaging and accessible.
Corporate Learning and Development.
So far we have looked at a few ways to digitize your content. But what if you work in the learning and development (L&D) department of a corporation? And, you have been given the responsibility of transforming digital content for your company’s employees. Where do you start?
There are a few things that you will need to take into consideration when transforming digital content for a corporate audience.
1. Know Your Audience
The first thing that you will need to do is to get to know your audience. What are their needs? What are their learning goals? What are their preferred learning styles? Once you have a good understanding of your audience, you will be able to create content that is tailored to their needs.
2. Consider Different Formats
When you are creating digital content for a corporate audience, you will need to consider different formats. For example, you might want to create video tutorials for software applications that your employees use. Or, you might want to create e-Learning courses that employees can take at their own pace. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to digital content for a corporate audience. You will need to consider the needs of your employees and choose the format that is best suited for them.
3. Host Your Content on a Learning Management System
If you are creating e-Learning courses or other digital content, you will need to host it on a learning management system (LMS). An LMS is a software application that is used to manage and deliver e-learning courses. There are many different LMSs on the market. And, you will need to choose the one that is best suited for your company’s needs. Once you have chosen an LMS, you will need to upload your content to the system and make it available to your employees.
4. Evaluate and Update Your Content
Once you have transformed your content into a digital format, you will need to evaluate it on a regular basis. Are your employees using the content? Is the content helping them to achieve their learning goals? If not, you will need to make changes to the content or the way that it is delivered. Regular evaluation and updates are essential to ensure that your digital content is effective and engaging for your employees.
These are just a few things to consider when transforming digital content for a corporate audience. If you take the time to plan and design your content carefully, you will be able to create digital content that is effective and engaging for your employees.
Content Transformation Process at Learnsure AI
Over the last few years, the Learnsure AI team has been working on content transformation projects for several corporate clients. We have transformed hundreds of traditional content pieces into digital content. Today, we are going to share our content transformation process with you.
1. Discovery and Planning
The first step in our content transformation process is discovery and planning. During this phase, we work with our clients to understand their needs and objectives. We also assess the existing content to see what can be reused and what needs to be created from scratch. Once we have a good understanding of the project, we create a detailed plan that outlines the scope of work and the timeline for the project.
2. Content Analysis and Mapping
The next step in our process is content analysis and mapping. During this phase, we analyze the existing content to see how it can be mapped to the new digital format. This is an important step in the process because it ensures that all of the essential information is retained in the new content.
3. Existing Platform Analysis
In this phase, we assess the existing content platform the client is using. This helps us to determine if any limitations need to be considered when designing the new content. Sometimes the platform is simply old and updated. It lacks certain features that would be beneficial for the content. If that’s the case, we suggest an alternative platform that would be a better fit for the content. If not, we work with the client to determine how to best utilize the existing platform.
4. New Digital Learning Platform
As content creators, we are familiar with a variety of digital learning platforms. In fact, Learnsure AI has its LXP (Learning Experience Platform) to host modern digital content. If clients are looking to host xAPI, SCORM, or video content, we suggest using our LXP. But you can choose any other digital learning platform that you prefer.
5. Instructional Design
Once we have a solid understanding of the client’s needs, we begin the instructional design process. This is where we determine how the content will be delivered and what type of interactions will be included. We also create any necessary graphics or videos that will be used in the content.
6. Content Development
After the instructional design is complete, we begin developing the content. This is where we take all of the information and turn it into a digital format. We also add any necessary interactions or multimedia elements. We have an established content development process.
i) Research:
Generally, a large part of existing content is outdated. We replace it with new ideas, examples, and sources without losing the essence of the original content. Our team of instructional designers and content creators are experts at this.
ii) Writing:
After the research is complete, our writers (SMEs) start repurposing the old content and adding new content as per the requirement. The writing is done keeping in mind the target audience, the objectives of the course, and the delivery format.
ii) Storyboarding and Design:
After the content is written, our team of instructional designers and visual designers creates a storyboard for the course. The storyboard outlines the flow of the course and how the content will be delivered. It also includes information on the type of interactions and multimedia elements that will be used in the content.
iii) Development:
Once the storyboard is approved, our developers start creating the digital content. They add all of the interactions and multimedia elements that were outlined in the storyboard. We use Articulate and iSpring Suite to develop most of our courses. These are industry-leading authoring tools that allow us to create high-quality, engaging content.
iv) Quality Assurance:
After the content is developed, our quality assurance team reviews it to ensure that it meets all of the client’s requirements. They also test the content to make sure that it is free of any errors.
7. Implementation and Launch
Once the content is developed and approved, we work with the client to implement it on their digital learning platform. We also provide support during the launch phase to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
8. Evaluation and Reporting
After the content is launched, we evaluate its performance and provide detailed reports to the client. We also make recommendations for any necessary changes or updates.
Of course, every client’s needs are different, so the process may vary slightly from one project to the next. But this is generally how we go about transforming traditional learning content into digital content.
